Citing data from the Integrated Reporting and Assurance Services’ Sustainability Data Transparency Index, Eunomix said the mining and metals sector is the largest contributor to corporate social investment and development expenditure in South Africa.
For the third consecutive year, the company exceeded its 2020 water savings target of 14%, achieving an estimated 16% water saving against projected water usage. Anglo American made this announcement on the release of its 15th annual Sustainability Report alongside its 2015 Annual Report, entitled “Driving Change, Defining Our Future”. Eight major mining companies in the South Gobi Region signed on 4 February a Voluntary Code of Practice (VCP) on water management, prepared over 18 months by IFC.
