Thirty-one of 282 companies in the extractive industries failed to file their royalties and sales revenue, thereby causing millions of dollars in state losses, government figures show.
The World Bank approved on Thursday a US $15 million International Development Association credit to help the Government of the Republic of Togo strengthen its capacity to manage the mineral resources in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable manner.
WWF has welcomed a move by the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to launch RSPO Next, a voluntary add-on to the RSPO standard that provides a platform for innovative growers to demonstrate best practice in sustainable palm oil and help buyers deliver on their “no deforestation” commitments.
